At the end of the 19th century, Sant Cugat became one of the places chosen by the bourgeoisie of Barcelona to build their holiday houses. Among the constructions of the period there stand out the holiday houses of the Gràcia Avenue (Casa Arme, Casa Rui or Casa Monte Carlo), the  Mercat Pere San or the building of the Celler Cooperatiu.
