The route begins at the Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Barberà, also known as the Romanesque Church, a 12th-century construction. Its construction hits through the use of three different tone cut stones and decorations on the walls with blind arches, Lombard bands and sawtooth.

The Romanesque period pictorial ensemble preserved inside the building, discovered in 1919 under a layer of lime, is very remarkable. These murals depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments. The Castle of Barberà is a documented building from 1005. Currently, the farm aspect of the building is the result of several interventions and subsequent reforms. This castle originally belonged to the Count of Barcelona and later passed into the hands of the Montcada family and the Galceran de Pinós (who in the 18th century became Marquis of Barberà). The Castle, transformed into a farmhouse, was inhabited by farmers until the 20th century.
