Castell and Torrota of Vacarisses

The Castle of Vacarisses is documented from the 11th century, but the current building was built, taking advantage of older structures, at the beginning of the 18th century. It was  restored in 2008 as a municipal facility and now  it hosts the municipal library and several meeting rooms.

Within the municipality, there is also the torrota de Vacarisses. It is a tower with a circular floor, sunken in its upper part, which has been consolidated in a modern restoration. The door is half a point and is located about 7 m high, at the level of the second floor, for security reasons. This tower of surveillance could be related to a first castle of Vacarisses, documented from the 11th century, and with the Torrota de l’Obac, for the defense of the way of Vacarisses.
