Strategically located on the river Llobregat, on the hill of the Forques, the tower Fossada is a construction of military origin built in the middle of the 20th century.
The tower was part of the military optical telegraph line from Barcelona to Lleida and communicated with the towers situated in Molins de Rei and Esparreguera. Due to its military character, originally, the access to the tower was by a drawbridge over a cemetery, which protected them from enemies’ access to the door and to the first floor.
It was abandoned at the end of the 19th century with the implementation of the telegraph wire. For its exceptional strategic situation, it became the last point of resistance of the Republican troops before Franco’s army on year 1939.
