Chapel of Sant Medir

Ermita de Sant Medir

The chapel of Sant Medir is located in the mountain range of Collserola, within the municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallès. Formerly called Sant Emeteri (later catalanized to Medir), the construction of the temple is of Romanesque origin, even though it has been intervened at a later date.

The popularity of the legend of Saint Medir transformed the church in destination of pilgrims. In 1802 it was held the first meeting of Sant Medir and, from 1846, there joined together the pilgrims of the Barcelona village of Gràcia. Since then, it is celebrated the pilgrimage to the chapel, where a meeting is held in honour of Sant Medir.
