The Vall d’Horta

At the head of the bucolic valley of Horta, under the vertiginous cliffs of the Montcau, it is hided the Font del Llor (spring), in one of the most impressive natural landscapes of the massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt.

We leave Sant Llorenç Savall by the track that leads to the Creu de Ricó, following the torrent of the Plàtan. A little bit later of passing the spring of Pere Miquel, when the track draws a curve to the left, we take the path that goes to the right, parallel to the torrent. This shortcut will take us to the track by which we where coming again, at the height of the Creu de Ricó. At this point, we find a junction, where we take the track that goes straight ahead and will lead us to the mas of the Roca. Here, the track changes its direction and goes up for the Vall d’Horta. We cross the torrent of the Cargol, we pass near can Oliveres, and we cross the torrents of the Hort de la Muntada and also that of the Acàcies, at the height of the masia of the Muntada. This is one of the most important and ancient massifs of the Horta valley, property of the lords of the castle of Pera (11th-12th century). We continue and cross the track that leads to the masia-restaurant Racó de Can Brossa. The path takes us to the beautiful mas of the Marquet de les Roques. This modernist masia was built by the Architect Juli Batllevell, disciple of Doménech i Montaner, on behalf of the family of the poet Pere Quart (Joan Oliver). Here the poet, with a restless and rebel character and quite uncomfortable with the bourgeois social codes, will pass large seasons. He usually organized literary soirees with a group of writers with whom he formed the named Colla de Sabadell, a group characterized by the rejection of the bourgeoisie and by the desire of provoking the society of the moment. Some meters ahead, in a curve on the left, before crossing the Pont de la Font del Llor, we take the path that goes up parallel to the torrent and that leads us to the spring of the Llor. Just when we pass the spring we leave the path that leads us to the right towards the walls of the Montcau and we take the way that goes into the forest. This path goes through the Senglar channel and takes us to a very evident pass. Here, the path that we were following gets wider and goes down in zigzag until the Marquet torrent, where it also crosses another forest track. At this junction it is born another path to the right which goes into the forest of the Muntada, a beautiful oak grove, and it goes up until the Gavatx pass, where we find again another track that we take to the left. Ahead, if we want, we can go up until the ruins of the castle of Roca Mur by a path that is born to the left of the path, in a little pass. We continue until a junction that we take to the left by a path that seems to come back and just later the path that goes down to the right parallel to the torrent of the Comes that takes us to a paved track. We take it to the left. Just after, a junction allows us to go through the torrent of the Vall d’Horta and take the path that passing by the Muntada returns us to the village again.
