The Benedictine monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt stands on the Mola, the highest summit of the Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac . Of the old monastery it is only preserved the temple, the bell tower and a galilee attached to the south facade.
The church is a building built in the 11th century, but the first documents of the monastery date back to the end of the 10th century. It has three naves, with a transept in the centre that holds a dome of octagonal section. The monastery was built with stone blocks of the same mountain and the walls are decorated with blind arches and Lombard bands on the outside, which are characteristic of the first Romanesque
Mention should be made to the magnificent views of the site where this church is located. On clear days, from the top of the Mola we can see from the sea to the snowy mountains of the Pyrenees.
