In the 10th-11th centuries, Castellar was a territory defined as “castrum kastellare”, constituted by scattered masies and with feudal domain of the family Clasqueri. The population lived mostly in masies, around the parishes of San Esteban and San Felix. You can still find a large number of masies in the municipality.
Next to the castle of Clasqueri is the Masia del Castell, which stands out for its aqueduct, and Can Sellent, an exceptional large masia that stands out from the middle of the woods, and which still keeps in its agricultural activity.
Other examples are the Brunet, a majestic rural building right on the bank of the river, located at the beginning of the road to Sant Llorenç Savall. In a northerly direction, toward Sant Feliu de Racó, you can find Can Juliana.
