The Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont is an institution dedicated to the research, dissemination and conservation of the paleonthological heritage of our country. The Institute brings together a collection of the most important fossil mammals of the Iberian peninsula and one of the most complete in Europe. The collection, which contains more than 170,000 fossil specimens, collects copies of the deposits of the regions of Pallars and of the Berguedà (Cretaceous), in the area of the Vallès-Penedès (Miocene) and of Cal Guardiola and Vallparadís, in Terrassa (lower Pleistocene).
The Institut Català de Paleontologia aims to raise awareness of the paleontological heritage of Catalonia and has two permanent exhibit rooms: one dedicated to the succession of fossil mammals in Catalonia, and another to the evolution of life during the era of the dinosaurs.
