A day with family and friends:

Nature and culture in Polinyà and Palau

If you are looking for a one-day getaway to enjoy with family or friends without covering too many kilometres, we propose a day full of nature, culture and good atmosphere in the heart of Vallès. We will discover Polinyà and Palau-solità i Plegamans on a route designed to make the most of the best of each village!

1. Virtual escape room for families

You will start the morning by walking through the streets of Palau to solve the 11 enigmas of the ‘Templar initiation ritual’: It is 1170. A few months ago, you sent a letter to the Order of the Temple with the aim of joining their commission.

You come from a humble family and it is an honour for your family to have you join the Order of the Temple. However, being part of such an institution is not an easy task. The fame of the Templars has a reason for being, and if you want to join the Order, you will have to prove your cunning.

The adventure begins in an old farmhouse on the Cami Reial. The number 56 comes to your mind. You can acces the game in english here.

2. Guided tour with show at the International Museum of Puppets of Catalonia (MIT)

At the next stop, you’ll enter the fantastic world of puppets with a spectacular collection of very diverse figures from all over the globe, including some well-known characters. The guided tour, led by Teia Moner, a professional actress and pupeteer, will make you have a great time!

Booking is required, check opening times and prices at www.museudetitelles.com.

3.Visit the Castle of Plegamans and the Folch i Torres Museum

This fabulous castle includes the archive dedicated to the Folch and Torres family, the most important authors of Catalan children’s literature. Popular titles such as El Patufet and Massagran will take you back to childhood, and don’t miss the spectacular views from the castle’s viewpoint!

The access to the castle and the museum is free, however it is highly recommended to arrange a guided tour to learn all the secrets, details and anecdotes that the museum holds. Every day including Sundays and bank-holidays (except Saturdays) from 10am to 11.30am and 11.30am to 1pm. More information at arxiu@fundaciofolchitorres.org or by calling at +34 640052532.

4. Taste the famous Patufets

You cannot leave Palau without tasting the famous Patufets, the most typical sanck in town: a meringue sweet made with sugar, egg white and almonds, inspired by the charismatic character of Folch i Torres.

You can find it in the artisan bakeries on Avinguda Catalunya: Forn Corominas and Pastisseria Inesana.

5. Relax in l’Hostal del Fum

The Hostal del Fum Park, just a few minutes’ walk or drive away, is perfect for a good picnic with family or friends. It has tables, shade, toilets and fountains, as well as a children’s playground with swings and space to play freely.

Don’t miss the Palau Train, a miniature convoy which runs trough the park on Sundays and bank-holidays and delights young and old alike. It’s a nice and ideal activity to continue the day in a relaxed way.

If you prefer, you can choose to stay for lunch at one of the farmhouses you’ll find in Polinyà.
