Matadepera is a village located in a privileged natural environment. For this reason, in the middle of the 19th century, it was chosen by the families of the nearby cities for the construction of their holiday residences.
In Matadepera we find buildings such as the Casa Aldavet, a modernist holiday house where the playwright and poet of the Renaissance, Àngel Guimerà, spent long seasons. Cal Marcet, designed by Lluís Muncunill in 1895; the Casa Mòssen Camps or the Antigues Escoles (Old Schools), which are also constructions of this period.
One of the most spectacular buildings in the town is the Torre de l’Àngel, a holiday house designed by Lluís Muncunill in 1907. Located in the outskirts of the city centre, at the foot of the road of Talamanca, the building stands out for the parabolic arches of the main facade, the lateral gallery and the use of the brick, the trencadís and the wrought iron.
