1. The Granota train
The historic UT-400, popularly known as the Granota train, is a real railway jewel that recovers part of the historical heritage of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC). It was the users themselves who named the train with this curious nickname due to its characteristic green colour and the two round headlights on the roof which look quite like a frog (granota in catalan).
This classic train, which operated on the Barcelona-Vallès line until 1996, has been fully restored to its original state and offers its passengers an exciting journey back in time: wooden seats, panoramic windows and all the charm of trains from the 1930s.
Every first Sunday of the month between May and December, the Granota Train runs along S1 and S2 lines through Les Planes (Barcelona), Sant Cugat Centre, Rubí , Terrassa Nacions Unides and Sabadell estació del Nord stations. Check the timetables at www.turistren.cat and don’t miss your ticket!
