Castell Cartoixa de Vallparadís – Museu de Terrassa

cartoixa

The Castell Cartoixa Vallparadís is a fortified building of the 12th century which became a Carthusian monastery in the 14th and 15th centuries, when the chapter house, the cloister and the chapel were built. It was restored during the 50s and adapted for museum use in 1959. It is currently the headquarters of the Museum of Terrassa.

In the castle there are concentrated the most representative objects of the local-themed collection that are contextualized through interactive settings, an interactive scale model of the urban growth of Terrassa and original filming of historical and social facts.

Among the most interesting pieces, they stand out the Roman sarcophagus of lead at Ca n’Anglada, the Romanesque carving of the Virgin Mary of Sant Cugat of the beginning of the 13th century, a part of the gallery of the cloister of the Castell Palau de Terrassa, the baroque carvings of the altarpiece of Sant Pere, the popular whistle of the textile factory of the Anónima and the banner of the Escola Coral de Terrassa.
