Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de la Salut

The sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de la Salut is located above the mountain range of Sant Iscle, on the remains of the ancient Roman villa of Arraona, within the municipality of Sabadell.

In the middle of the 17th century, it was found a statue of the Virgin near the source of the torrent of Canyameres. This Virgin began to be venerated in the chapel of Sant Iscle that already existed in this place. Little by little, the statue was acquiring great devotion by the recoveries that were said to be carried out by her. From year 1697, it is celebrated the Aplec de la Salut every second Sunday of May, with religious and popular acts. The Mare de Déu de la Salut was proclaimed patron saint of Sabadell on 19 October 1947 by Pope Pius XII.

The church of La Salut is a fairly eclectic building from which we should highlight the modernist-style bell tower, the sculptural decoration, the work of Enric Monjo and Camil Fàbregas, the altarpiece of the high altar of the painter Antoni Vila Arrufat and the stained glass windows of Jeroni Granel.
